Working With Alderwood
Do you design, build, and install everything in-house?
Yes. Alderwood is a vertically integrated cabinet shop — we design, manufacture, and install custom cabinetry and millwork under one roof in the Treasure Valley. The same team that draws your project builds it in our shop and installs it, so there are no imported boxes and no hand-offs between separate companies.
What areas do you serve?
We serve the Treasure Valley across Ada and Canyon counties, including Eagle, Boise, Meridian, Star, Nampa, Caldwell, Kuna, Middleton, and Garden City. If your Idaho project is nearby, reach out and we'll let you know.
Are you a licensed contractor?
Yes. Alderwood works as a licensed Idaho contractor, registration RCE-6681702. That means your project is permitted and handled by a registered contractor rather than a cash-only installer.
How do I get started?
Send us a note through our contact form with a little about your project. We review every request and reply within one business day to set up a consultation, then schedule an in-home measurement so we can design to your actual space.
What We Build
What kinds of cabinetry and millwork do you make?
New custom work of every kind: kitchens, whole-home cabinetry, bathroom vanities, built-ins, home offices and libraries, walk-in closets and pantries, wine rooms, and architectural millwork such as paneling, coffered ceilings, and custom trim. Everything is built to order for your home.
Do you offer cabinet refacing or refinishing?
No. We build new custom cabinetry rather than refacing or refinishing existing cabinets. If you want cabinetry sized to the inch, in the wood and finish you choose, new custom construction is what we do best.
Can you match existing trim and millwork in my home?
Yes. Because we mill our own work, we can match an existing home’s trim profiles and detailing, or design something entirely new. Carrying the same wood and finish through the house is one of the advantages of using a single shop.
What is the difference between custom and stock or semi-custom cabinets?
Stock and semi-custom cabinets start from standard box sizes and are filled in with fillers where they don’t quite fit. Custom cabinetry is built to your exact space with no size limits, using furniture-grade materials, finer joinery, and hand-applied finishes. It costs more because it is made to order and made to last.

What wood species do you work with?
We build in knotty alder, white oak, walnut, and maple, along with painted inset cabinetry. These are the woods that suit Treasure Valley homes and hold up to everyday use. We help you choose species, door styles, finishes, and hardware against real samples so the finished work matches what you approved.
How long does a custom kitchen take?
It varies with the size and complexity of the project. As a rough guide, design and drawings typically take a few weeks, in-shop fabrication takes several more, and installation follows once cabinets are complete. We give you a project-specific timeline once we’ve measured and finalized your selections.
How much does custom cabinetry cost?
Custom cabinetry is priced per project and depends on scope, construction, wood species, finish, and complexity. Our kitchen cost calculator gives a preliminary planning range in seconds, and a precise figure comes only after an in-home measurement and final selections.
Do you provide a warranty?
Yes. We stand behind our cabinetry and installation, and the specific warranty terms are detailed in your project contract. Our construction methods — dovetailed drawer boxes, plywood cases, and quality soft-close hardware — are chosen to last for the long term.
