The concept
Two-tone earns its popularity by giving a kitchen both brightness and warmth. This piece keeps a clean painted Shaker perimeter and centers the room on a stained white-oak island — a focal point that keeps a Meridian new build from feeling builder-generic.
How we build it
The painted perimeter is built on maple with MDF panels for a dead-flat, stable finish, and the island is built and stained separately so its grain reads through. Two finishing setups mean more shop time — done in-house so the painted and stained tones are balanced against each other.
Details that matter
A full-height pantry wall replaces the soffit-and-upper look for storage and cleaner lines, deep drawers carry the working load, and the island is sized to the room so it works without crowding the walkways.
