Star Modern Farmhouse Kitchen
A representative project in the modern farmhouse idiom: a crisp painted Shaker perimeter warmed by a white-oak island, built for the acreage homes around Star and Middleton.

A representative capability piece — it illustrates the materials, construction, and design approach we bring to this kind of project, not a photograph of a specific past client’s home.
The concept
Modern farmhouse works when the “farmhouse” is disciplined rather than themed. This piece keeps a clean painted Shaker perimeter and lets a white-oak island and a furniture-style hood carry the warmth, with an apron-front sink as the nod to tradition.
How we build it
The painted cabinetry is built on maple with MDF center panels, which paint dead-flat and stay stable through Idaho’s seasons, while the island is built in natural white oak for contrast. The hood is built as a millwork surround so it reads as part of the cabinetry rather than an appliance.
Details that matter
A full-height pantry keeps an acreage kitchen’s storage generous, deep drawer banks handle the working load, and the two finishes are balanced in-house so the painted and oak tones sit right together. Hardware is sized to the drawers rather than dropped in by default.
